Is a home battery worth it in the UK? An honest guide
A home battery is usually worth it if you can charge it cheaply (from solar or an overnight tariff) and use that power when electricity is expensive. It's less worthwhile if you use very little electricity in the evening or can't get a time-of-use tariff.

You're on, or can switch to, a time-of-use tariff with a cheap overnight rate.
You have solar panels and export a lot of your power in summer.
You use a lot of electricity in the evening, or have an EV, heat pump or electric heating.
When it may not
Your electricity use is very low, you're on a single flat-rate tariff and can't switch, or you plan to move house very soon.
Spreading the cost
All our systems are available with £0 deposit finance through Emerald Solar, subject to status. On a good tariff, the monthly saving can cover a large part of the monthly payment. The savings calculator shows both side by side.
Other benefits
Batteries are currently zero-rated for VAT when installed in Great Britain. Some systems, like EP Cube, can also keep key circuits running in a power cut.
