Privacy & cookies

Who we are

Battery Compare (batterycompare.co.uk) sells and arranges installation of home battery systems in the UK. We are the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact us about privacy at privacy@batterycompare.co.uk.

Orders and enquiries

When you place an order we collect your name, email, phone number, installation address and any notes. We use this to process your order, arrange installation, send order emails and meet legal and accounting obligations (lawful basis: contract and legal obligation). Order records are kept for 6 years for tax purposes.

Visitor analytics and IP addresses

Only if you choose "Accept analytics", we record how you use the site:

  • pages you view, the time of each visit and how long you stay
  • how you arrived (search engine, AI assistant, advert, social media, another website or campaign link)
  • actions such as viewing a product, choosing a battery, starting checkout, opening a datasheet or using the size guide
  • your IP address, and the approximate location (town, region, postcode area, country) and network or company name looked up from it
  • your device type and browser

We use this to understand which products interest people, improve the site and measure our marketing. The lawful basis is your consent. A random visit ID is held in your browser for the current tab only. IP location is looked up via a third-party IP geolocation service. We don't sell this data or use it for third-party advertising. Analytics records are deleted after 26 months.

If you choose "Essential only", none of this is recorded.

Cookies and browser storage

Essential (always on): your chosen battery and your cookie choice are stored in your browser so the shop works. Our hosting provider may also set a security cookie to block bots.

Analytics (optional): a visit ID and how you arrived, stored for the current browser tab only. Only used if you accept.

Who we share data with

Our website hosting and database providers, our email delivery provider, installation partners (only for your order) and the IP geolocation service. All are bound to protect your data. Some may process data outside the UK under approved safeguards.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to or restrict its use, and withdraw consent at any time (using the button above). Email us and we'll respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
